Aviation, particularly the sort involving small aeroplanes and large opinions, is a peculiar hobby. It requires money, patience, optimism, and an ability to explain to non-pilots why “going around” is not, in fact, a failure.

The world of small planes is where flying is still gloriously imperfect. It’s about cups of coffee balanced on a wing, questionable weather decisions, and an unshakable belief that your next landing will be perfection.

The Weekend Pilot Club is a highly exclusive organisation, mostly made up of people who spend five days writing emails, wondering what to have for dinner, and worrying they've left the iron on, before spending two glorious days climbing into a small aircraft and confidently announcing intentions on the radio as if this were all perfectly normal. Membership requires mild optimism, a strong tolerance for crosswinds, and a firm belief that nothing beats escaping the ground while everyone else spends their weekend mowing the lawn and walking around Costco. Welcome aboard.
